Factories of the Future

The representatives of ITeE – PIB took part at the International Networking Day and related Brokerage Event on H2020 “Factories of the Future” (

The Institute’s representatives (Anna Sacio-Szymańska, Jordan Mężyk, Stefano Tommei) had a powerpoint presentation during plenary session of the event showing the R&I potential and collaboration offer provided by ITeE - PIB also they took part in “Factories of the Future” Brokerage Event meant to discuss possible co-operation under upcoming H2020 call for proposals.


“Factories of the Future” is a public-private partnership between the European Commission and the research and innovation community aiming at delivering the technologies needed for the new sustainable and competitive manufacturing in Europe. “Factories of the Future” initiative is implemented under Horizon 2020 Framework Programme. The event was co-organised by the National Center for Research and development (NCBR - the National Contact Point for Research Programmes of the EC (KPK PB UE - for the 19th of May 2015. It was held at Hotel Marriot in Warsaw.

It was devoted mainly to companies and was open to interested science centres, in order to foster dialogue and fruitful cooperation. Moreover, the presence of international participants was a chance for Polish SMEs to develop an international network of possible partners.

The Event aimed to present the European and Polish R&D opportunities in the area of manufacturing, as well as to increase synergy between EU and national funds, especially considering that Poland is the biggest beneficiary of the European Structural and Investment Funds (€ 70 bn).

The event was composed of two sessions:

(1) a Networking event during the morning session and
(2) a Brokerage event during the afternoon session.

The Networking event provided comprehensive information concerning:

  • FoF in H2020 calls;
  • Polish R&I funding system and possibility of funding synergies;
  • R&I potential and collaboration offer (after confirmation from organisers).

The Brokerage event was held at the same place.

Participants had the opportunity to present their organizations and ideas for project through participating in bilateral meetings (max. 20 minutes). The event aimed at fostering the creation of consortia for the upcoming Horizon 2020 calls.

The thematic scope of the event was in line with the strategic R&D priorities of the Institute as well with the orientation of the strategic programme “Innovative Systems of Technical Support for Sustainable Development of Economy”.

During the event Jordan Mężyk (Mechatronics Department) and Anna Sacio-Szymańska (Innovation Strategies Department) presented and promoted the Institute. In addition, at the Brokerage event, they explained widely the Institute’s capabilities in terms of joint realisation of R&D projects under H2020, with a focus on FoF projects.
